ABOUT THE PRODUCT
Applications
Helps keep a workpiece steady during hand filing, assembly and maintenance on the bench.
What workshop tasks is it used for?
A cast iron bench vice holds a workpiece during filing, hand cutting, assembly and maintenance. Keeping the part steady helps you work with both hands and reach the working area more easily. Size options accommodate different needs, from small part assembly to everyday workshop tasks.
How should you choose the size?
Start by assessing the width and shape of the part to be clamped. Compare the jaw opening, jaw depth and mounting area together rather than relying only on the model size. If working at the edge of a bench, allow space for any part extending downwards and for the handle to turn.
A grip suited to the workpiece
Position the workpiece evenly between the jaws. Suitable protective jaw pads may be considered for delicate, painted or coated surfaces. Any protective insert must maintain the grip and remain secure during the operation. Consider additional support for long parts.
Installation and daily maintenance
Secure the vice to a sturdy work surface using suitable fasteners. Before use, check the mounting, jaw cleanliness and grip on the workpiece. Remove chips and debris with a suitable brush, and follow the product's lubrication instructions when maintaining moving surfaces.
Do not extend the handle with a pipe to increase force. Use the product only for its intended purpose. If you notice damage to the body, jaws or screw, have it checked before further use.
Choosing your vice
Consider the workpiece size, required jaw opening and available mounting area on your bench together.
The millimetre value in the model name does not, by itself, specify the maximum jaw opening. Please confirm the jaw opening, weight and mounting dimensions of your chosen model.
